On the 3rd of May I’ll be running my first Wings For Life World Run race and I can’t wait for it… First of all it’s a charity run where are the proceedings go for spinal cord injury research and second it’s a different race concept: you don’t run towards the finish line, but the finish line is catching up with you (I’m ready to “doei doei” Tim Coronel once he’ll drive the catcher car past me)…
This year’s Dutch edition will take place in Breda and it will start at 13:00 local time from the Breda Castle (Kasteel van Breda) and together with the global event (35 locations on 6 continents) will be broadcast live online.
Registrations for the race end on the 28th of April, but in case you won’t be able to make it to a location near you, you still have a chance! This year, the organizers launched a mobile app available for Android and iOS: Wings for Life Selfie Run. On the 3rd of May at 11:00 UTC (13:00 Netherlands time) the app with start automatically and you’ll start running together with all the other participants. Just pick your favorite running route and enjoy! Once the virtual catcher car will “catch” you, your race will end and you’ll be able to find your position in the global classification of the Wings for Life Selfie Run.
My goal for this run is to have a last 30+km practice run before the Stockholm Marathon (I’m planning to run 32-33km) and to enjoy Breda and it’s surroundings as I’ve never been there before.
Of course, I’ll be taking my KWF run against cancer message with me at the race and hope to gather some more money for the campaign I’ve set up.
How about you? Are you running Wings for Life World Run?
Till next time, happy running!
